Cushing’s Syndrome is a condition that occurs when the body produces too much of the hormone cortisol. There are many different treatments to help reduce symptoms, and some can even be done at home with guidance from your doctor or nurse practitioner. In this blog post, we will go over three treatment methods for Cushing’s syndrome so you know what steps to take if you think you have it!
The first treatment is called “dexamethasone suppression therapy.” This involves taking a corticosteroid medication that suppresses cortisol production.
“Pituitary surgery” is another option. During this procedure, the doctor removes part of the pituitary gland or reduces its size to help reduce hormone levels and make them more normal.
Thirdly, if you have Cushing’s syndrome caused by an endocrine tumour, your doctor may remove or shrink it with a surgical biopsy or cold knife excisional biopsy. It should be noted that many people can benefit from these treatments for their Cushing’s symptoms even if they do not have any underlying condition such as those listed above!
